Estrangement is Real

Family members and loved ones become estranged from each other. This is normal because human beings are complex and life is complicated. Conflict happens. Although there are different reasons, our recent political environment has been the cause of many cases of estrangement. You are not alone.

All Relationships Need Help

Communication and active listening skills are the bedrock of a solid relationship. It is normal for you not to be an expert in these areas.

More

Is your family estranged from each other? Are you a parent of a child who has disengaged from you? Are you a son or daughter who has disapproving parents who don't support you, your partner, or your life's decisions?

Estrangement therapy can teach you how to cope in challenging situations by helping you focus on finding solutions as you navigate conflict and estrangement. In any type of relationship, be it personal or professional, conflict is bound to happen. It's not reasonable or realistic to expect two people to always agree on everything. Even though conflict is a normal, healthy part of any relationship, trying to deal with it when it comes up can feel anything but healthy or normal. Since disagreements are an expected part of life, learning to handle them in a positive and meaningful way is crucial.

After issues arise within families and in-laws we may try to "keep the peace." You may hope that over time, the issue will resolve itself. By avoiding conflict or pretending nothing happened, you'll create additional tension as this unspoken problem remains between you and the other person. Days turn into weeks, weeks to months, and months to years and there is no resolution or reconciliation.

The next time you have a disagreement, one or both of you will be angry or resentful from the previous disagreement that was never resolved. Conflict resolution therapy will help you see conflict as an opportunity to develop your character and improve your relationships. You'll learn to successfully manage stress, control emotions, and focus on resolving the issue at hand.

Issues

  • Have a family member you struggle to get along with
  • Can't seem to come to an agreement with your in-laws or parents on important issues
  • Have an argumentative with a sibling or family member
  • Need help moving toward reconciliation and forgiveness
  • Need skills to manage your emotions during an argument
  • Want to find healthier, more effective ways of communicating your needs
  • Have a son or daughter who does not want a relationship

Solution

We can show you how to find the source of division so you can work quickly towards a resolution. We'll teach you how to focus on a solution instead of shutting down, blaming, or resenting the other person.

Estrangement Counseling will help you learn that while you can't control the other person, you can control how you respond.

If you're having difficulties at home or in the family and need support, estrangement therapy can teach you conflict resolution skills so you can handle any situation. Contact our office today to schedule an appointment.

More About Us

We are a boutique and local speciality practice. We are NOT your big-box mental health practice. We take pride in providing you the absolute best and most personalized mental health service in a secure, private, and welcoming environment.

Expectations

Our approach is straightforward and focused on achieving results. The process may be uncomfortable, challenging, or difficult. We are here to help you and sometimes getting help isn't fun (although we value light-heartedness).

The Process

Step One: Intake and Assessment as a family

Step Two: Each person will have an individual session with the therapist

Step Three: Therapist will work together with the family

The number of sessions to expect will vary as each family is different. You will work with your therapist to gauge progress, discuss expectations, and to collaborate with your treatment.

Disclaimers

We cannot guarantee any results. We do our very best and use our experience, trainings, and credentials to help you achieve your goals, but ultimately your results are up to you.

Payment and Insurance

We currently do not accept insurance for family therapy. Families who invest in themselves achieve greater results. Additionally, insurance is based on the dated, medical model of mental health treatment which requires diagnoses, limits the flexibility of treatment, and is not completely private and confidential.

Our rates are: $200/intake, $175/each following session.

Good Faith Estimate

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit http://www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
